More than 1,000 Delegates to honour 1st Mara Day in Tanzania
More than 1000 delegates are due to take part in the celebrations that are to be conducted in Tanzania the very first time, on 15th September. the capital of Serengeti a district filled with wildlife Mugumu town is to host this event concerning Tanzania plus the nearby Kenya.
This day unites major stakeholders of River Mara that is shared between 2 East African sister-countries. Final touches are being made by the Officials targeted at making this event a success under-close supervision of Mr John Tupa the Mara Regional Commissioner plus the District Commissioners. During the most recent important meeting held in the town of Mugumu in preparation of the celebration, the RC Tupa stated that they said they want the Mara Day celebrations to reach international standards
There are also un confirmed reports which Mizengo Pinda the Prime Minister is slated to grace the actual big day. Mr Tupa The Mara RC, is expected to verify the reports at any time. Approximately 250 delegates from Kenya are slated to take part, in accordance with officials with the Lake Victoria Basin Commission (LVBC) that participated in the preparation meeting. Sources say that delegates from Kenyan will include student groups, ministers, officials of Mara River Basin water users association and permanent secretaries.
A number of delegates will get the chance to visit Kogatende, the entry way where the yearly migration of wildebeests pass as they cross River Mara on their way to the Masai Mara Game Reserve on the side of Kenya, coming from Serengeti on the side of Tanzania and the other way round.
LVBC has already been getting involved in the preparation of the upcoming Mara Day celebrations together with USAID East Africa. Actually the ministry of water too has agreed to get involved.
Kogatende is Located in the Northern edges of Serengeti and it is approximately 58 kilometers from Mugumu town in which the event will be happening. These celebrations will be vibrrant with an exhibition having pavilions of important stakeholders for example water users associations from the two countries.
Most of them have confirmed involvement, in accordance with officials. Conservation together with tourism associated issues are set to dominate the entire exhibition anticipated for official starting on 12th September. The day will in addition be colored by traditional local dance groups as well as other sports which include what officials call the Mara Day Serengeti marathon.

This day was first commemorated in the district of Bometi in 2012 last year.
