Tanzania Cultural and Nature Walk 12 days

DAY 1 – ARUSHA
On arrival at Kilimanjaro airport transfer to Willy’s Cottages / Oasis Lodge to spend overnight.
DAYS 2-3; TWO DAYS AT TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK
In company of an environmentalist guide, depart for Tarangire National Park, which is the third biggest National Park and haven for a very big population of elephants in Tanzania. Huge baobab trees are another fascinating feature within the park that offers shelter to various animals that usually feed below them. The only perpetual water source River Tarangire, is another spot in the park where you can view various waters that converge to drink its waters. There is wide variety of wildlife among which are leopards, lions, cheetahs, and close to 6,000 elephants. Enjoy a bush-walk plus a cultural-visit within the resident semi-nomadic tribes. Spend 2 nights at Tarangire River Camp.
DAY 4 – KARATU
Depart for Karatu, on the exterior gradient of Ngorongoro Crater. Traverse the bottom of the Great Rift Valley close to Lake Manyara. Shop and bargain for African crafts, cloth, as well as local produce as you take part in the daily lifestyle of the resident Africans in Mto Wa Mbu / Karatu. Group choices include a nature walk, or a game-drive in Lake Manyara National Park. DAY 5 – LAKE EYASI
at 5 am, drive transversely up the escarpment of the great rift valley all the way to Lake Eyasi and there join an early walk with the local Bushmen-hunters / take time partaking in the morning schedule of the village. The local guide will certainly interpret as well as discuss the hunting techniques that the local tribes-men use. This arid and rocky landscape is occupied by Bushmen that live in nomadic-groups and hunt with bows plus arrows and also gather roots, wild fruits plus tubers. Be ready for an exceptional cross-cultural-experience as you spend time participating in the lifestyle of these nomadic Bushmen. Drive back for an overnight at a private mobile-camp at the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater.
DAYS 6-7 – NGORONGORO CRATER SAFARI
Watch the wild animals within the enormous grasslands on the crater floor. Because of the constant availability of both pastures and water, animal can be found in this crater all year round. Ngorongoro is among the most thrilling game habitats in Africa and has classifies among the World Heritage Sites. Some of the resident wildlife includes hyenas, black manned-lions, hippos, the endangered black rhinos, wildebeests, zebras, elephants and jackals. There is a profusion of birds among which are thousands of flamingoes that flock the Soda lake in addition to other water birds. If the Weather allows, have a morning walk close to Empakai Crater on the Day 7. This fascinating caldera is perfect for trailing along the animal paths but in company of a ranger. The Empakai scenery is very stunning, with forested islands plus a waterfall at River Munge’s source. Monkeys plus buffaloes are commonly seen in this region. Have an afternoon tour through the Masai village to see the local herdsmen grazing cattle by the rim of the crater. Remember to carry warm-clothing as you will camp at 7,000 feet. DAYS 8-11 – SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK SAFARI (3 DAYS)
In the early morning drive to Serengeti plains, stopping on the way at Olduvai Gorge a site where discovery of the remnants of Australopithecus Homo habilis plus Homo erectus where made by Mary Leakey. Serengeti is perhaps the most remarkable wildlife haven in the world. The large, almost endless plains are occupied during the annual migration by large herds of wildebeests plus zebras. These herds draw several predators such as lions, cheetahs plus hyenas. Serengeti in addition has large granite Kopjes or rock islands, projecting in a sea of grassland. The Kopjes are habitat a wide diversity of plants as well as animals, ranging from the hard to pin down leopard to the small dik dik. The impressive park is majorly explored using safari-vehicles. Walks are offered in Ikoma area on the exterior of the park starting June to November as well as in the Southern part of the park starting December to May. DAY 12 – SERENGETI-ARUSHA- OR TRIP EXTENSION
Catch a flight over the vast Serengeti plains to Arusha. (Alternatively travel by road on request). Slumber at Oasis Lodge
